Er wurde international bekannt als Interpret sowohl f\u00fcr das klassische Repertoire, als auch f\u00fcr Zeitgen\u00f6ssische Musik.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 16.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px Verdana; color: #4b4a50;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Zusammen mit Mstislav Rostropovich und Natalia Gutman geh\u00f6rt Ivashkin zu den Cellisten f\u00fcr die Alfred Schnittke komponiert hat. Auch hat er das Gesamtwerk f\u00fcr Cello der Komponisten Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Rachmaninov, Schnittke, Kancheli, Roslavets and Tcherepnin bei Chandos, Naxos und BMG eingespielt. <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 16.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px Verdana; color: #4b4a50;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Ivashkin war Direktor des Zentrums f\u00fcr Russische Musik und Leiter der Abteilung f\u00fcr Performance Studies an der University of London.
